during the last 4-month period, from 435 to 444
(2% growth). We last featured this company in our
10/31/06 newsletter (4% growth, had entered into
OR). The restaurants are family casual, specializing
in Buffalo wings. Check average is about $8-$20
per person, open for lunch and dinner, with a full
bar. Seating is for about 200. About 70% of units
are franchised. Trading areas are AL, AR, AZ, CA,
CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD,
MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NV, NY, OH, OK,
OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WI, and WV.
Denver, CO-based VICORP RESTAURANTS INC (founded
1958) has increased 4 units for their Village Inn
concept, from 260 to 264 (2% growth) and has decreased
2 units for the Bakers Square concept, from 148
to 146 (1% downsizing). Overall company increase
was from 408 to 410. Both concepts are family/casual

with a 7% downsizing. These are fast casual Mexican

burger concept, open for lunch and dinner, with
a $2-$6 per person check average. Seating is for
about 50. More than 90% of locations are franchised.
Calgary, AB, Canada-based JUGO JUICE (founded
1998) has opened 8 units, from 66 to 74 (12% growth)
and entered into the states of AZ and NV. We mentioned
this concept in our 10/10/06 newsletter (8% growth,
entered into the US). This quick serve juice/smoothie
concept is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner
hours, with a $2-$6 per person check average. Seating
is for about 20. Locations are in the states of
AZ, NV, and TX, and the provinces of AB, BC, NB,
NS, ON, PQ, and SK.
Greenwood Village, CO-based MAUI WOWI HAWAIIAN
COFFEE & SMOOTHIES (founded 1982) has opened
50 units, from 450 to 500 (11% growth) and entered
into 9 new states (AR, CT, ME, NE, NM, OK, OR, UT,
and WA). Other trading areas are AL, AZ, CA, CO,
DC, DE. FL, HI, IL, IN, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MT,
NC, ND, NJ, NV, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, and
WI. The restaurants are quick serve, offering coffee
and juice smoothies for about $2-$6 per person.
