| Chicago,
IL-based HOMEMADE PIZZA CO has opened
4 units, from 10 to 14 (40% growth). This company
was last featured in our 1/2/2007 newsletter,
when they had a 43% growth. The restaurants
are made-to-order, take-n-bake pizzerias, open
for lunch and dinner hours. Delivery is available
at most locations. All units are in IL, with
2 MN locations opening this summer.
Jupiter, FL-based RJ GATOR'S FLORIDA SEA
GRILL & BAR (founded 1986) has opened
3 units, from 21 to 24 (14% growth). We last
mentioned this concept in our 8/4/2006 newsletter,
as having had a 4 unit decrease. Locations are
family/casual, with American style cuisine,
a full bar, and an $8-$20 per person check average.
The restaurants seat about 200. Trading areas
are FL, LA, NC, and TX, with locations opening
soon in Louisville, KY, and Phoenix, AZ. More
than 90% of locations are franchised.
COFFEE BEAN & TEA LEAF based in Los
Angeles, CA (founded 1963) has increased by
39 units, from 420 to 459 (9% growth). These
are quick serve shops with seating for about
30. Units are more than 50% franchised and located
in AZ, CA, HI and NV.
Yum Brands franchisee, SOUTHERN MULTIFOODS,
INC. headquartered in Jacksonville, TX (founded
1976) has had an overall increase of 7 units
from 86 to 93 (8% growth). The company increased
by 2 units for their Taco Bell concept, from
42 to 44 and by 5 units for their KFC concept,
from 4 to 9. All units are located in TX.
