Farmers Branch, TX-based TACO BUENO
(founded 1967) has opened 10 units, from 159
to 169 (6% growth) and entered into the state
of NC. These quick serve Mexican restaurants
are open for lunch and dinner, with a $3-$8
per person check average and seating for about
50. Trading areas are AR, KS, MO, NC, NE,
OK, and TX. Less than 10% of locations are
franchised.
Richmond, VA-based BULLETS BURGERS CHICKEN

ND, NV, TX and WI, with locations opening
soon in NY and RI. The restaurants are quick

NESTLE TOLLHOUSE CAFE BY CHIP of Richardson,
TX (founded 1930) has increased by 16 units,
from 77 to 93 (21% growth). The company has
now expanded into AR, IN and KS. These are
take-out shops with a per person check average
of about $1-$4. Locations are currently in
AZ, AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, LA, MD,
MI, MN, MO, NE, NV, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OK, OR,
PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA and WV. We last wrote
about this concept in our 2/14/06 newsletter
when they had 7% growth.
Chef Bobby Flay's, BOY MEETS GRILL INC
of New York, NY (founded 1991) has opened
a new location for the Mesa Grill concept
in Paradise Islands, Bahamas. The company
now has increased from 5 to 6 total locations:
(20% growth). Current concepts are Bar Americain
(1), Bobby Flay's Steakhouse (1), Bolo (1)
and Mesa Grill (3). Units are upscale with
full bar, seating for around 200 and a per
person check average of around $30-$50+. Locations
are in NJ, NV, NY and now the Bahamas.
LANDMARK DINER of Atlanta, GA has opened
a new location from 4 to 5 (25% growth). These
are 24 hour family/casual restaurants with
full bar and seating for about 200. The per
person check average is from around $4-$20+.
All locations are in GA.
GENGHIS GRILL headquartered in Dallas,
TX has increased by 2 units, from 12 to 14
(17% growth). We last reported on this concept
in our 8/16/06 newsletter when they had 22%
growth. These are fast casual Asian restaurants
with full bar, seating for about 125 and a
per person check average of around $8-$20.
Units are in CO, IA, MN, TN and TX and are
around 70% franchised. There are plans to
open new locations in IL, KS, NV and TX.
BIG APPLE PIZZA & PASTA based in
Stuart, FL (founded 1980) has increased by
4 units, from 13 to 17 (31% growth). These
are family/casual restaurants serving beer
and wine with seating for about 50. Banquets
and catering are offered. Locations are mostly
franchised. All units are located in FL.
