Carlsbad, CA-based RUBIO’S FRESH MEXICAN GRILL (NASDAQ: RUBO, founded 1983), has increased by 10 units, from 156 to 166 (6% growth). Restaurants are family casual, Mexican cuisine, with a per person check average of $6-$12. Beer and wine is served. Seating is for about 150. Catering platters are available at all locations. More than 90% of locations are company owned and operated. Restaurants are located in AZ, CA, CO, NV, and UT.

This company was last featured in our 9/6/06 newsletter for their 15% growth over that four-month period. The restaurants are quick service sandwich shops, with a $2-$6 per person check average and seating for about 20. Catering and delivery are available. More than 90% of locations are franchised. Seattle, WA-based TACO DEL MAR (founded 1992), has increased by 25 units during the past 4 months, from 208 to 231 (12% growth) and is now trading in the states of HI, LA, MS, ND, and the provinces of AB and SK. Other trading areas are AK, AZ, BC, CA, CO, IA, ID, MT, NE, NV, OK, OR, TX, UT, and WA. This company was previously featured in our 9/19/06 newsletter as having grown by 17 units, and entering the states of AK, IA, and OK. These fast casual Mexican restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with a $6-$10 per person check average. Beer and wine is served and catering is available. More than 90% of locations are franchised.

This is a quick serve sandwich concept that averages about 80 seats with a per person check average of about $3-$8. Locations are currently in AZ, CO, FL, GA, ID, MT, NC, NE, NV, OK, UT and WA. All locations are franchised. There are 22 more locations currently in development.
