Atlanta, GA-based TED’S MONTANA GRILL (founded 2002), has increased by 5 units during the period, from40 to 45 (13% growth) and entered into the states of NY and RI. The restaurants are family/casual steakhouses, with a full bar and seating for about 100. Per person check average is about $10-$30. Other trading areas are AL, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MO, NC, NE, OH, PA, TN, and VA.

Chattanooga, TN-based GORDON BIERSCH BREWERY RESTAURANT GROUP (founded 1988) has increased by 1 unit for their BIG RIVER GRILL concept, from 3 to 4 units, and 4 units for the GORDON BIERSCH concept, from 19 to 23, for an overall company increase from 28 to 33 (18% growth). Other concepts include A1A ALE WORKS (1), BLUEWATER GRILL (1), RAGTIME TAVERN (1), ROCK BOTTOM RESTAURANT (2), and SEVEN BRIDGES GRILLE (1). With this expansion, the company is now trading into the states of IL and MD. Other states include AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, HI, LA, NC, NV, OH, TN, VA, and WA. Restaurants are family/casual, with a per person check average of $10-$30. Units are open for lunch and dinner, with seating for about 400. Banquet facilities are available.

Lansing, MI-based BEANER’S GOURMET COFFEE (founded 1995), has increased by 4 units during the last 4 months, from 61 to 65 (6% growth), with new locations to open soon in Defiance, OH and Southfield, MI. This company’s growth was previously featured in our 4/25/06 newsletter edition (14 unit increase, 31% growth). These quick service coffeehouses are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a per person check average of $2-$6, and seating for about 50. Catering service is available, as well as online ordering from the company website (www.beaners.com). All locations are franchised. Trading areas are AL, FL, GA, IL, IN, MI, OH, SC, and WI.

TOP SPICE of Atlanta, GA has opened their 3rd location (50% growth) in Atlanta during the period. Locations are upscale Thai with full bar, seating for 125 and a per person check average of about $20. Catering and delivery are available. All locations are company owned and located in GA.
