Growing Concepts

Gilbert, AZ-based NATIVE NEW YORKER (founded 1979) has increased by 2 units, from 21 to 23 (10% growth) and entered into WA.  These family/casual restaurants serve American cuisine and are open for lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $6-$15+.  The restaurants have full bar and seating for about 200.  Catering and banquet services are available.  Locations are franchised and trade in AZ and WA.

San Antonio, TX-based BAYSEAS SEAFOOD RESTAURANT has increased by 1 unit, from 4 to 5 (25% growth).  This is a family/casual concept, open for lunch and dinner, with a $10-$30 per person price range.  Seating is for about 60.  All locations are in TX.

North Carolina-based BIG AL'S PUB & GRUBBERIA (founded 1996) has increased by 1 unit, from 3 to 4 (33% growth) and entered into WV.  This family/casual bar and grill concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $6-$15+ per person check average.  Locations have full bar and seating for about 125.  The restaurants are franchised and trade in NC and WV.

FLAP JACK'S FAMILY RESTAURANT of Lansing, MI (founded 1983) has increased by 1 unit, from 3 to 4 (33% growth).  These are family/casual restaurants open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Seating is for around 150.  Banquets are offered.  All locations are in MI.

RUNZA based in Lincoln, NE (founded 1949) has increased by 6 units, from 82 to 88 (7% concept growth).  These are quick serve sandwich restaurants with seating for around 80.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $3-$8.  Catering and franchising are offered.  There is a second company concept called Braeda Fresh Express Café (3 units).  Overall company growth is from 85 to 91 (7% growth).  Locations are in CO, IA, KS and NE.

Texas-based SOULMAN'S BBQ RESTAURANTS (founded 1974) has increased by 2 units, from 7 to 9 (29% growth).  The restaurants are family/casual, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a $3-$8 per person price range.  Units have seating for about 150 and catering and private party services are available.  All locations are in TX.

Minneapolis, MN-based BUFFALO WILD WINGS (NASDAQ: BWLD; founded 1982) has increased by 59 units, from 778 to 837 (8% growth) and entered into AK, NH, and UT.  These family/casual restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with an $8-$20 per person check average.  The menu specializes in chicken entrees.  All locations have full bar and seating for around 200.  Catering is available.  Units are franchised and trade in AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, ON, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, and WV.  We last featured this concept on 11/9/10 (5% growth), 3/22/11 (5% growth), and 9/13/11 (4% growth).

Manasquan, NJ-based JERSEY MIKE'S GIANT SUBS (founded 1956) has increased by 48 units, from 480 to 528 (10% growth) and entered into LA.  These quick serve sandwich shops are open for lunch and dinner, with a $3-$8 per person price range.  Units have seating for about 20 and offer catering and online ordering services.  Stores are franchised and trade in AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NV, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI, and WV.  We wrote about this concept on 10/12/10 (4% growth) and on 9/20/11 (6% growth).

Burnaby, BC-based FRESHSLICE PIZZA (founded 1999) has increased by 17 units, from 51 to 68 (33% growth).  These are take-out/delivery pizza shops, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner hours.  Per person price range is $2-$6 and online ordering is available.  Stores have limited seating.  Trading areas are BC and ON.  Franchising is available.  We featured this concept on 6/28/11 (11% growth).
