2008 Top 10 Summaries
While compiling data from our Top 10 lists from January ’08, April ’08, July ’08 and October ’08, we found trends in the Top 10 fastest growing concepts between 3–50 units. The following graphs will show trends in service types and cuisines.
The first graph indicates that quick serve is still the fastest growing service type. Family/casual is still in second place; however, fast casual is closing in fast.
In the next graph we will examine the growing cuisines within the Top 10 fastest growing concepts between 3-50 units.
This graph indicates that Sandwich is the number one growing cuisine and American concepts are a close second. BBQ is standing strong in third place.
In forecasting for 2009 it seems that these trends will continue however with the current financial crisis we may see a slowdown in the actual unit count growth.
